NO on AB 775 Reproductive FACT Act

Seeks to force citizens who are abortion opponents to violate their own freedom of speech by effectively endorsing the mission of their opponents, abortion proponents.

1stAmendment2ndClassEnshrines in law content-based censorship–“if you don’t want your speech to be restricted, don’t advocate pro-life”, Makes pro-lifers “1st amendment 2nd class”.

The equivalent in the commercial world would be to require businesses to refer customers to their competitors. An equivalent law could be passed commanding McDonald’s to inform its customers of the menu and prices at Burger King or Carl’s Junior.

Abortion businesses are not required to refer their clients to crisis pregnancy centers, but crisis pregnancy centers would be required to refer their clients to county facilities which send them to abortion businesses.

Puts government in the business of deciding which scientific facts are politically favored—those which pass a litmus test in favor of sexual license and population control.

Government will politically disfavor scientific facts which disadvantage the for-profit abortion industry.

17-Year-Old Girl Forced to Have Abortion Against Her Will “No! Please Don’t Make Me!”

Lavonne Wilenken, former Planned Parenthood nurse practitioner, spoke with Douglas R. Scott, in  Bad Choices: A Look inside Planned Parenthood (1993):

Once when I was working in the family planning clinic where also the abortuary [abortion clinic] inhabited the same building, I was in a room with a counselor and a young woman. One of the family planning assistants came – burst in the room and said, “Please, you’ve got to come quick! She’s trying to back out of the procedure and everything is all ready!”

The counselor left hurriedly down the hall and I followed to see exactly what was going on and what I saw in the hall was the counselor, a 17-year-old girl and her aunt, dragging her into the room as she was hollering, “No, I don’t want to go! Please don’t make me! Please don’t make me do this! I really don’t want to do this!”

They very hurriedly shoved her in the room where the procedure was to take place and slammed the door and the counselor came out afterwards with a sort of a, a peaceful smiling look on his face, and I knew what had happened. I knew that they had aborted her against her will.

Pope Francis Against the ‘Innovators’

The Closed Door of Pope Francis

by Sandro Magister | Translated by Matthew Sherry

Since the end of the 2014 synod, Francis has spoken dozens of times on abortion, divorce, and homosexuality. But he hasn’t said a single word more in support of the “openness” demanded by the innovators

ROME, May 11, 2015 – The second and last session of the synod on the family is approaching, and the temperature of the discussion keeps going up.

The latest uproar is over an onslaught of the German bishops, who now take as a given, in the “cultural context” of their local Church, substantial changes of doctrine and pastoral practice in matters of divorce and homosexuality.

Until the synod of October 2014, Jorge Mario Bergoglio had repeatedly and in various ways shown encouragement for “openness” in matters of homosexuality and second marriages, each time with great fanfare in the media. Cardinal Kasper explicitly said that he had “agreed” with the pope on his explosive talk at the consistory.

Synod battle goes back to the betrayal of Pope Paul VI on contraception, says Polish archbishopBut during that synod the resistance to the new paradigms showed itself to be much more strong and widespread than expected, and determined the defeat of the innovators. The reckless “relatio post disceptationem” halfway through the assembly was demolished by the criticism and gave way to a much more traditional final report.

In accompanying this unfolding of the synod Pope Francis also contributed to the turning point himself, among other ways by rounding out the commission charged with writing the final report – until then under the brazen dominion of the innovators – by adding personalities of opposing viewpoints.

But it is above all from the end of the synod on that Francis has taken a new course with respect to the one that he initially traveled.

From the end of 2014 until today, there has not been even one more occasion on which he has given the slightest support to the paradigms of the innovators.

The reckless “relatio post disceptationem” … was demolished … and gave way to a much more traditional final report. On the contrary. He has intensified his remarks on all the most controversial questions connected to the synodal theme of the family: contraception, abortion, divorce, second marriages, homosexual marriage, “gender” ideology. And every time he has spoken of them as a “son of the Church” – as he loves to call himself – with ironclad fidelity to tradition and without swerving by a millimeter from what was said before him by Paul VI, John Paul II, or Benedict XVI.

Local Congressional Representative Joins SBA-List Promoting The HEALTH CARE CONSCIENCE RIGHTS ACT (H.R. 940 & S.1204)

This article does not endorse any candidate for office, nor does it tell you, the reader, how to vote on any issue.

BeHealedIn a book recommended by Father Leatherby, “Be Healed: A Guide to Encountering the Powerful Love of Jesus in Your Life” by Bob Schuchts, we are reminded of the fact that health care is the original, proprietary concern of the Catholic Church, another form of thunder which has been stolen from us by the enemy of souls:

We pursue health and wholeness because God has built the desire for healing into the fabric of every human being. As Pope Benedict attests , healing is essential to our Christian faith. As Christians, we believe that Jesus came to earth for this purpose– to restore us to wholeness and to bring us back into full communion with the Father and each other. This faith , revealed in sacred scriptures, has been faithfully proclaimed by the Church for two thousand years: “‘ Heal the sick’! The Church has received this charge from the Lord and strives to carry it out. . . . She believes in the life-giving presence of Christ, the physician of souls and bodies” (CCC, 1509). Stop a minute and let those time-tested words sink in. Jesus, the incarnation of God our Healer, is the ultimate physician of our souls and bodies (Ex 15: 25– 26). He not only forgives all our sins, but he also heals all our diseases, according the Psalmist (Ps 103: 3). Jesus’ healing miracles, past and present, are expressions of the Father’s tender compassion and intimate concern for each of us in our brokenness and suffering. They point to the ultimate healing he won for us on Calvary. Pope Benedict’s assertion sums it all up: “Healing . . . expresses the entire content of our redemption.” [Pope Benedict XVI, Jesus of Nazareth, 176] For the past two thousand years of Church history, all our worship, all our theology, and all our prayers are directed toward our restoration, as we are brought ever deeper into communion with the Holy Trinity.

McClintockSBAlistCongressman Tom McClintock (R 4th California) reports “I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 940, the Health Care Conscience Rights Act, which repeals certain dangerous provisions of Obamacare that specifically threaten the right to life.  This bill also protects health care providers against discriminatory practices for refusing to provide, pay for, or refer for abortion. I am also a co-sponsor of H.R. 217, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which would prohibit federal funding to healthcare providers who perform abortions, except in the cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother’s life.”

Congressman McClintock joins the Susan B. Anthony List in promoting this last-ditch effort to stave off loss of our religious freedom in the health care domain.

Nigerian Bishop Emmanuel Badejo: ‘Hillary Thinks She is a god’

But African values are not on sale

African values are not on sale,” the new Chairman of Communications for the African bishops has said.

As families we have to be very wise and very strong with fortitude to say no to these initiatives of colonization that could destroy the family.

“As families we have to be very wise and very strong with fortitude to say ‘No’ to these initiatives of colonization that could destroy the family.”

But Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo, Nigeriais convinced they are under threat from what Pope Francis has called an “ideological colonization” that is seeking to destroy the family.

It’s so bad, he says, that the United States has made clear it will not help Nigeria fight the Boko Haram terror group unless the country modify its laws regarding homosexuality, family planning [population-control] and birth-control.

“I believe there are three groups of people in this world: those who believe in God, those who do not believe in God, and those who think they are gods. Hillary Clinton I think is one of those who thinks she is a god.”Aleteia sat down with Bishop Badejo last week in Rome at the conclusion of the African Bishops’ Standing Committee Meeting, to discuss his unique perspective on the nature and threat of the Nigerian-born terrorist group. Bishop Badejo also discussed the African bishops’ hopes for the Synod on the Family and their view on the hot-button issues and statements made at last October’s Synod gathering.

Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.

Bishop Badejo, 53, is the new Chairman of Communications for the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM).

Pope Francis Didn’t Call Mahmoud Abbas ‘an Angel of Peace’

AbbasCrucifixFrancisYou are an angel of peace.”

He never said it. A BBC reporter in the room claimed that Pope Francis said “you are an angel of peace” while presenting a gift to Abbas.

As is tradition with heads of State or of government, Francis presented a gift to the Palestinian leader, commenting:

May the angel of peace destroy the evil spirit of war. I thought of you:

may you be an angel of peace.”

Children conceived via IVF have double the autism rates of others

By Erica Pearson | NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | Thursday, March 26, 2015

A DISTINCTION WITHOUT A DIFFERENCE: “Higher Autism Rates among In Vitro Fertilization Conceived Children ‘Might’ be Due to Multiple Births or Complications during Pregnancy that can Follow Such Treatments”

Autism rates are twice as high for children conceived using assisted reproductive technology like in vitro fertilization, scientists found in a new study of nearly 6 million California children.

The researchers didn’t find a direct link between treatments like IVF and autism, however. They say the higher rates can be explained by the large number of multiple births or complications during pregnancy that can follow fertility treatments.

  • Mental disability
  • Birth defects
  • Genetic damage
    • Retinoblastoma (eye cancer)
    • Kidney cancer (Wilms tumor)
  • Multiple births
  • Premature delivery and low birth weight
  • Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
  • Miscarriage
  • Egg-retrieval procedure complications
  • Ectopic pregnancy
  • Ovarian cancer

For moms giving birth to just one baby, there’s no increased risk of the neuro-developmental disorder, researchers said.

During IVF, doctors combine eggs and sperm in a laboratory and then implant the embryos that are formed into a woman’s uterus. To increase the chances of pregnancy, doctors will implant up to three embryos — which boosts the possibility of carrying twins or triplets.

2377 Techniques involving only the married couple (homologous artificial insemination and fertilization) … remain morally unacceptable. They dissociate the sexual act from the procreative act. The act which brings the child into existence is no longer an act by which two persons give themselves to one another, but one that “entrusts the life and identity of the embryo into the power of doctors and biologists and establishes the domination of technology over the origin and destiny of the human person. Such a relationship of domination is in itself contrary to the dignity and equality that must be common to parents and children.” “Under the moral aspect procreation is deprived of its proper perfection when it is not willed as the fruit of the conjugal act, that is to say, of the specific act of the spouses’ union . . . . Only respect for the link between the meanings of the conjugal act and respect for the unity of the human being make possible procreation in conformity with the dignity of the person.” CCC 2377
The study was a collaborative effort of researchers at Columbia University, Fordham University, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It was published by the American Journal of Public Health.

“While the risk of ART (assisted reproductive technology) with respect to autism appears to be largely modifiable by restricting the procedure to single-embryo transfer, more research is needed to understand the precise mechanisms by which ART and autism are linked,” author Columbia University Professor Peter Bearman said in a release.
